The Mystery of Shemini Atzeret
On the Eighth Day
".........the Feast of Tabernacles for seven days to YHVH. On the eighth day you have a set apart convocation and you shall offer an offering made by fire to YHVH. It is a sacred assembly, and you shall do no customary work on it. These are the feasts of YHVH." Lev. 23:34-36;2
We see in the Word that the seven days of Sukkot-Tabernacles is a picture of the Final Harvest or Ingathering!
It is as we come to Shemini Atzeret we see it as the "Great Day of the Feast!"
"On the last day, that great day of the feast, Yeshua stood and cried out, saying, "If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living waters." John 7:37
This day is a day of "great salvation!"
So what is the hidden meaning of the eighth day?
It is a day to join in a solemn assembly to pray and then celebrate and rejoice for having the very essence in our inner being of joy and rejoicing!
The picture of Shemini Atzervet is of a very intimate union and fellowship
as the bride and the Groom!
We see at this season the ingathering, the great harvest
as we observe Shemini Atzeret we are looking into the very threshold of "New Beginnings!"
His Kingdom Comes and His Will Being Done!
"For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth; and the former shall not be remembered or come to mind. But be glad and rejoice forever in what I create; for behold, I create Jerusalem as a rejoicing and her people a joy. I will rejoice in Jerusalem, and joy in My people...."
Isaiah 65:17-19
During the Sukkot water ceremony Yeshua came on the eighth day and revealed Himself
that He was the LIGHT of the world!
Great lamps of gold were lite and the light shown all over Jerusalem and to the surrounding towns. The people would sing and dance! At dawn the assembly of people proceeded with melody and song to the spring of Shiloam at the foot of the walls of Jerusalem.
The priest would carry a special golden decanter and fill it with the spring water.
Then the congregation ascended again to the Temple- the priest would take the decanter up to the altar and pour the water into the silver cups at the corners.
At this time there was much prayers and yearning for rain for the coming year!
"For out of Zion shall go forth the Torah and the Word of YHVH from Jerusalem."Isaiah 2:3
"O house of Jacob, come and let us walk in the LIGHT of YHVH." Isaiah 2:5
"O house of Jacob, come and let us walk in the LIGHT of YHVH." Isaiah 2:5
At the Nicanorr Gate- at the Women's Court during Sukkot was where all the joyous celebration occurred.
Yeshua our Koden Gadol High Priest of the eternal covenant is our rejoicing as we can have access to the Heavenly Temple. We are now members of the greater Temple and part of His Body part of the His Great Sukkah!
As I was preparing this word on the eighth day and studying more about the water liberation, I found that all religious belief systems have some sort of water liberation ceremonies and taking note of this I realized that when Yeshua our Messiah shared that" if anyone thirsts, let him come to Me for a drink, He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his being will flow rivers of living water."
All nations would understand this if they had practiced this water ritual in their belief system.
"Ho! Everyone who thirsts, come to the waters.........Listen SHEMA carefully to Me......Hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you." Isa. 55:1-3
"Now it shall come to pass in the latter days that the mountain of YHVH's house shall be established on the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow to it. Many people shall come and say, "Come, and let us go up to the mountain of YHVH, to the House of Elohim of Jacob; He will teach us His ways, and we will walk in His paths." Isa. 2:2-3
"In that day it shall be that living waters shall flow from Jerusalem.....And YHVH shall be King over all the earth, in that day it shall be YHVH is One- Echad and His Name One!" Zech. 14:8-9
"Thus the Messiah will come, and all the saints with HIM!" Zech. 14:5
